Daisy Hill

  Daisy Hill

Daisy hill is a station in Westhoughton. It was decided that it was a good name to use for the layout that is being constructed by myself Phil Garner, Bryan, frank and Alan.

Our layout isn’t based on any particular place but represents a main line terminus station somewhere in the northwest.

Construction has been in progress for nearly two years and the aim is to have it completed and ready for the 2014 club show in Crosby, Liverpool.

The period that we are modelling is 1960-1965

We will be running both Steam and diesel

Track Work and points is Peco code 75

Buildings are from various sources but the two main ones are Metcalf and Bachmann

Layout size including fiddle yard is 16 foot x 2ft6

Main Features on our layout are:

Main line 2 platform terminus station with cattle dock,

Coal yard,

Goods shed

Dairy

Brewery

Current progress

All tracks has now been laid, but we have decided to change some point work around to allow coal trains easier access in to the coal yard.

There is two main focuses at present. One is on completing our 12 lane and turntable fiddle yard. The second focus is by me and that is the use Daz modelling clay to cover the dairy yard, brewery yard and coal yard. With a thin layer. Once it has hardened and sand to a smooth finish. Cobbles are scribe into it. This is a very laborious task. There will be an estimated 100,000 cobbles scribed by hand once I have finished. Its very time consuming but the finished effect is really good.

Planed schedule for this year.

Completion of fiddle yard

All scenic work

Rearrange point work

Rewire of control panel

Lots of testing

As well as running trains
