Thursday 13th May 2010 (News): John B DunsmoreWe are sad to report the recent death of John Dunsmore. 'Big John' was one of the Society's founder Members in 1982, later serving as Chairman from 1993 until ill health forced him to step aside in 2004. Although in his later years John could visit the Clubrooms only infrequently, he was always in attendance at our annual show, helping out with the cash desk. Sunday 8th November 2009 (News):
Brian Murray joined us only eighteen months ago, but in his short membership had established himself as an enthustastic, friendly and reliable Member, always willing to help anyone; nothing was too much trouble. He had earned the respect of fellow Members as a keen, able modeller through his work in bringing Dolgellau up to exhibitable standard. He had been interested in model trains since boyhood and brought this valuable knowledge with him to the club. A much-missed, valuable member of the Dolgellau layout team and though he leaves an empty space, his memory lives on in the layout. We will miss our Brian but are better off for having had him as our dear friend. James 'Jimmy' Carlin Comedian and fountain of railway knowledge. Everyone in the model railway world knew and respected Jimmy; valued by all for his railway knowledge which was unsurpassed. He was a founding Member of the Society and once described as a member of the scouse mafia which he loved as he had a wicked sense of humour. An active club member until recently his memory lives on in our hearts as we each remember the things that made Our Jimmy so special, goodbye dear friend. |
